Description

Course Overview

The correct manufacture of medicinal products relies on people and on the quality of the training they receive. On-the-job training is one of the most common and time-consuming forms of training in a pharmaceutical organisation, yet knowing a subject well is not the same as being able to train others in it. This one-day training gives employees who train their colleagues the practical skills to do so effectively and with confidence.

The central theme is simple: how do you effectively train your fellow colleagues? Participants learn how people learn and remember, get to know themselves as a trainer, and practise giving well-founded feedback that is attuned to the person in front of them.

Key Topics

  • What makes on-the-job training effective, and what GMP expects of training
  • The core qualities of a trainer, with a self-assessment of your own strengths
  • How people learn and remember: Kolb's learning styles and the Effective Learning System (ELS)
  • Checking whether trainees understand and what to do when they don't
  • Giving and receiving feedback, including dealing with "difficult" participants
  • Evaluating training activities and knowing how to act when results fall short

Learning Approach

The training combines presentation, group discussion, and self-assessment with hands-on workshops. Participants design and deliver short training segments, experience Kolb's learning styles from both sides, and practise giving and receiving feedback through demonstration and role-play. A closing workshop brings the full day together in practice.

Target Audience

This training is designed for employees who deliver on-the-job training to colleagues in a GMP environment. It is equally valuable for experienced trainers looking to sharpen their skills and for those who have recently taken on a training role.

Contents

This one-day classroom training focuses on how to train colleagues effectively, with particular attention to on-the-job training in a GMP environment. Participants explore how people learn and remember, discover their own trainer qualities, and practise structuring a training using the Effective Learning System and Kolb's learning styles. The day combines presentation, discussion, self-assessment, and hands-on workshops on effective training and on giving and receiving feedback.
