A two-day in-house program on GMP at leadership level: oversight and accountability rather than execution, ending in concrete commitments per participant.

One trainer, one team, your premises

Run for your team at your location. We adapt the material to your products, SOPs and recent inspection findings, taught by the same trainers who run our public PCS Academy courses.

What's included

  • Programme adapted to your products and SOPs
  • Trainer travels to your premises: no staff time lost
  • Dates that fit your production schedule
  • Individual certificate for every participant
  • Same trainers who teach our public PCS Academy courses

What you will learn

Explain the purpose of GMP and the consequences of non-compliance, both for the organisation and for your own accountability as a leader

Name the core elements of a pharmaceutical quality system and recognise when a situation should be escalated

Distinguish your own responsibilities as a leader from the responsibilities of the staff you lead, including training, resourcing and setting the right conditions

Identify leadership-level signals and decisions in a deviation or inspection finding, rather than analysing the technical root cause

Recognise concrete leadership behaviours and decisions that strengthen or undermine quality culture on the floor

Describe how to move a team from procedural compliance towards genuine ownership

Identify what drives or undermines GMP diligence under production and time pressure, and what a leader can do to sustain it

Apply a short root cause technique that challenges the first, most obvious explanation for a problem

Formulate and commit to one concrete action to strengthen ownership and quality culture within your own team

Description

GMP at leadership level is a challenge: not only your knowledge of the regulations but also your interpersonal skills are put to the test.

As a leader you are responsible for the time pressure, the staffing, the reaction when someone reports a problem, and whether "stop and ask" is genuinely safe to do. This two-day in-house program is designed to help you stand your ground in these decisions, in GMP and GDP environments.

Day 1, GMP fundamentals and leadership accountability. What GMP requires and why. What a serious finding, such as an inspectorate observation, a warning letter or a recall, means for the organisation and for you as a leader. The essence of a quality system at the level needed to ask the right questions, not to execute the processes. And the line between what GMP expects from the people doing the work and what it expects from those who lead and enable them.

Day 2, leadership, culture and ownership. Which concrete leadership behaviours strengthen or undermine quality culture. Why simply following the procedures is not enough, and how to move a team from "the system says so" to thinking for itself. What feeds GMP awareness and what erodes it under production pressure. A short root cause technique aimed at behavioural and systemic causes rather than (overly) technical detail.

The program ends in commitments. Each participant formulates one concrete action for their own team and shares it with the group, which creates light peer accountability that outlasts the training days.

  • Delivered on two consecutive days, on site
  • Maximum 25 participants per session
  • Opening and closing quiz, so knowledge gain is measured rather than assumed
  • All case material supplied by PCS
  • Certificate of attendance for every participant
  • Can be followed by Role-Based GMP Leadership Coaching, which lands these principles in each function group's own daily work

Target Audience

Team leaders, supervisors and department leads with responsibility for staff working in a GMP environment, across production, engineering, laboratory, quality and supply chain.

This is not operational GMP training. It assumes participants do not execute the quality processes themselves but have to oversee, question and enable the people who do.

Mixed groups drawn from across the site are recommended: leaders learn most from hearing how the same pressure is handled in a department that is not their own.

Contents

Day 1, GMP fundamentals and leadership accountability: what GMP is and why we do it; consequences of non-compliance at leadership level; quality systems and quality culture; responsibilities of leaders versus responsibilities of staff; case discussion on what a leader should have seen or done; GMP in your own practice.

Day 2, leadership, culture and ownership: leadership's role in strengthening quality culture; from trusting the system to taking ownership; motivation within teams regarding GMP; root cause analysis, nothing is what it seems; translating insight into action; closure and commitments.

Programme

Results

Participants leave able to state their own accountability as a leader in one or two sentences, to recognise leadership-level signals in a deviation or an inspection finding rather than only the technical root cause, and to name at least one concrete change they will make in their own team. The effect that sites notice first is in escalation behaviour: problems surface earlier because leaders have made it safe to raise them.
